Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg tablet is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used on its own or together with other medicines to help keep the blood pressure go down by relaxing the blood vessels.
Telmisartan is also used to prevent and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in adults who have a high risk of getting them.

How To Take Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Telmisartan must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed otherwise by the doctor, as stopping it suddenly may worsen your condition.
Take Telmisartan exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
Hypertension: Initial: 40 mg once daily, may be adjusted to 20-80 mg once daily according to clinical response. Maximum: 80/day.
Cardiovascular risk reduction: 80 mg once daily.
Missed Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
- Dizziness
- Bradycardia
- Elevated serum creatinine
- Acute renal failure
Seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications

How Does It Work?
Telmisartan, a nonpeptide tetrazole derivative, is an angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist producing its BP lowering effects by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors, thereby reducing angiotensin II-induced vasoconstriction aldosterone-secretion and Na reabsorption.

- Patient with aortic or mitral stenosis
- Obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Ischemic cardiopathy
- Unstented unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis
- Ascites due to cirrhosis
- Refractory ascites
- Patients undergoing major surgery or during anesthesia
- Black race
- Mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
- Lactation
- Avoid alcohol
